The Pacific Northwest PGA named him the Golf Professional of the Year in 1974 and 1978. In 1986 the Western Washington PGA & the Pacific Northwest PGA Section named him Teacher of the Year. In 1989, Al was inducted into the Pacific Northwest PGA Hall of Fame. In 2000 & 2002 he was named Oregon PGA Chapter and Pacific Northwest Section Teacher of the Year.
